Requirements to be an independent consultant in the USA

Post new topic

Gadget1204

Dear US community and contracting experts,

I am looking for information on what the requirements are in order to be an independent consultant in the US. Is there a website that someone could direct me to?

I already have my own company in the UK and am considering opening a subsidiary here in the US to be able to contract here but would need to understand what type of insurance I need to carry, what the conditions are (e.g. do I absolutely need multiple clients or can I work only for one?), etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Olivier

Olivier, yes you can obtain Independent Contractors insurance, which you can find via a Google search easily enough I think,

Also, this link from the IRS may be of use to you
