Bordeaux neighborhoods

Hi
My husband and I are going to stay for 3 months in Bordeaux as an experience of life we are trying to do. We stayed 3 months in Lion, 3 in Palermo and 3 in Montreal. We try to live as a local, we do a language course everytime ( we are ressonably well in french now -) ) and we try lo know better the local culture. We are pedestrias, retired, about 65 years old and very active!!
Can you help us in choosing the best neighborhood to rent an apartment?
