The USA/ Internal Revenue Service Mailed My Refund

Post new topic

Alascana

Has anyone on the Brazil forum  ever  recieved a  US Government Check from the IRS and what was the disposition if deposited within a account in Brazil.

For I had requested the monies be direct deposited to my US account.( I am sure the routing number and account number were Correct )

My Tax form had to be mailed in for I was missing a necessary piece of information and it required the IRS to manually process the refund.

Okay I mailed the forms on April 2,2017 and I recieved notice on 7/10/ 2017 that my refund had been approved and "Mailed". (that was expedient ) smh

I know the IRS made  less than $100.00 usd adjustment in there favor of course (lol).

I am wondering in  Beautiful Brazil if I deposit it here.

1. Will I be assessed a Exchange rate and a fee as well as be taxed on the deposit?

For now all I can see is I will have to mail the check back to my bank in Alaska (Certified Mail of course )(lol) and wait for it to be credited to my account.( about 3 weeks for it to arrive in Brazil and 3 weeks for it to be deliver to my bank (got a love the post offices in both countries) rotflmbo!

if anyone can put a factual twist on this request for information please chime in, Please no surmise just the facts.
:thanks::o:dumbom::whistle:
Thanks in advance

I think I would call the bank in Alaska and see what options they may have. Another option might be to sign the check over to someone that you know who is going to the USA. Depositing in a Brazilian bank is bound to cost you money.

Mystery Solved. Through the miracle of on line banking, my bank has electronic deposit.
which means endorse the check, take a photo of both sides using the app from the bank and the check will be deposited the same day (there is 2 processing times each day) or within 3 business days.
and it's a done deal.

Good deal.
