Hello all.
Geoffrey in Perth here.

I might be going to all the riparian nations surrounding Lake Tanganyika soon - with a bit of luck and need to know what various costs will be.

I don't expect precise costs but a general idea of living and moving around costs will give me a good starting point.

Working visa for 2 months - Tanzania, DR Congo, Burundi and Zambia.
Accommodation near and on the face of the lake - daily rates or weekly is ok at this stage (doesn't need to be fancy but clean and safe).
Food costs - how much a day for a decent feed...and of course whats a beer worth in a pub:D
Vehicle hire to take me around the lake  - that would require a driver as well I suppose. How much for a driver and vehicle - don't need a 4 wheel drive to the best of my knowledge.
Translator from French and the local language to English.
Boat hire to do some photography on the lake at a few places.

Do you need to pay ...errh, inducements. I lived in Indonesia and it's rife there.

I'd appreciate any advice you can give.

Regards
Geoffrey

Welcome on Expat.com Geoffrey ;)

This website can give you a hint of the approximate cost of living around there. Hope this helps.

Also, keep us updated of your photographic adventures ;)

Thx Yud. That is a big help.

Do you think prices from the other riparian nations around Lake Tanganyika are about the same?

And yes, I will be happy to send in some pics and let you know how it goes...if I get the job of course.

Got any idea how much a hire car costs? Or is it better to buy one if I am there for say a month, then resell it?

Once again, thx
Geoffrey
