Is Mauritius a safe place to live?

Post new topic

Hi There, I would like to know what the crime is like in Mauritius? I know that there is petty theft everywhere but I am talking about violent crime. Are there many violent crimes like rape and murder?

musheer

From What I hear and have seen, violent crime tends to normally be crimes of passion or personal feuds.
Yes, rapes do happen, but it is very rare.. Murder or violent crime its very big news around bcoz it doesnt happen often..
Though they say the crime rate is increasing with growing disparity in income..

hello,
mauritius is a safe place to live, most of the towns are safe; although if you go into streets of one or two suburbs at midnite(which nobody would like to do), you might get stuck with a crook, not with violence or crimes.

have a nice stay, enjoy mauritius,
cheers
