Employment opportunities for school leavers

Post new topic

Hi

We are considering relocating to Mauritius from South Africa next year.  One of our many considerations is about employment opportunities for school leavers if they chose not to pursue tertiary education and are not Mauritians (although would have Residency).  Is anyone able to offer insight on this concern?

Thanks Viv

Hi,

School leavers or not, the procedures for securing a job in Mauritius is the same for any foreigner.
One needs either a work permit or an occupation permit, each with it's own set of conditions and requirements.

That said, Mauritius has a selective immigration policy regarding employment. Without a college degree, a post-graduate qualification, a vocational certificate or any other specialized training and instruction, the probability of securing a job will be very low to nil.

Hi Winston

Thank you for your very informative reply.  These are all very salient points.  Fortunately Mauritius does seem to have excellent tertiary education opportunities.  My eldest would be in high school should we relocate and it is important for us to consider his opportunities post-school which are currently a concern here in SA.

Regards Viv
