Hi everyone,
My name is Daniel. I`m 28 years old and I`m from Romania. Next month I`m thinking about moving to Norway (Oslo). I have some questions about this ...and if you`re kind enough to answer them I would be grateful. Before we beggin I would like to point out that the main target here is finding a job. I`ve been working in Romania in deferent fields. From waiter, bartender to notary office, lawyer office, distribution, internet cafe and many more. I don`t know the norsk language only a bit a finnish (been there when I was 15 for a year). Is language a problem ? How hard is it in getting a job in Oslo ? How much is the rent/month for a room? or apartment? Are the norvegian`s nice people? Looking forward to some answers. Ty in advance.

Armand

Hi Daniel,

1) Language: norwegian has nothing in common with finnish as you may know but if you have been to learn finnish I think you can master norwegian easily, it is easier to learn. However english is spoken everywhere and it is illegal in Norway to discriminate on the lack of language skills when hiring except if the job requires you to speak norwegian

2) Finding a job is not so hard, especially in construction, bars, restaurants, a little bit of prior contacts always help of course

3) Rent for a room is around 3-5000 NOK with usually a mandatory 3 months deposit

4) Norwegians are nice, more open than the Finnish and they are used to work / deal with foreigners as the immigrant population in Oslo is pretty significant

good luck!

Ty Armand for the warm welcome.

And ty AuNordDuMonde for the fast and eficient reply.
Very helpful things.  For the "3-5000 NOK " that`s how much in euros ? if you don`t mind me asking.  Hopefully i`ll find a job pretty fast. Glad to hear that norwegians are "warmer" than the finnish people. :)

Any things I should know in advance? Do and Don`t do ? I am an educated person with good moral values and common sense ...but I don`t want to mess this up so any tips would be welcomed. ty in advance
really helpful forum and people.
