Are you living in Australia? We need you to share your experience of the local customs :)

Is it difficult to adjust to the local customs in Australia?

Could you please share with us a list of the do's and don't's in Australia?

Thanks!

This will really depend where you’re from. Read this for a good introduction.

Australians do not take many things seriously. We use sarcasm a lot – so if somebody says something that sounds a little bit strange or rude, it is often because they are joking. I have noticed – when talking to people from places like the United States, South America and all of Asia – that they never seem to realise when I’m joking!!

Because Australia is a melting pot of so many cultures, there are not as many cultural ‘dos and don’ts’ as you will find in many other countries. I am from a family of many cultures – many of my family members were not even born in Australia. Australia seems to adopt other cultures and accept that not everybody is going to ‘get’ it all right away.
