Hi  Does anybody know of a local or International Medical insurance company which will provide new policy for over 66yr old MM2H expat?

Yes, most of the local insurers are happy to do this, including Tokio Marine, Allianz, AXA and AIA. I seem to recall the only issue is that a medical will be required.

Take a look at https://www.imoney.my/medical-insurance for ideas. But the plans are for hospitalization. General medical expenses are not covered. But that is all the MM2H programme requires.

Hi Gravitas

Thks for ur suggestions.
Have just checked Axa- age limit for entry is 60.

Allianz is ok but says eligible for Permanent residents of Malaysia. I understand MM2H does not qualify as permanent resident. Do u agree?

There are special rules for people who have got a MM2H approval letter so don't worry. This also applies to being able to have one's mortal remains interred  in Malaysia when on MM2H (which is not possible if on a work permit for example). Axa says 65 yoa.

Just know you can get insurance (i.e. you can't claim based on age it was not possible). The only out would be health status.

The premiums are very low compared to international insurance (but of course based on Sum Insured). What I pay per annum is the equivalent to one month's premium outside Malaysia. Obviously that comparison is based on the prevailing exchange rate. Many MM2Hers like myself live on Penang Island. You could join the FB groups called Partners in Penang or Expats in Penang to link directly.

There are many different policies from each of the insurers and the details can be accessed from their websites.
