Renewing an American Passport in Moscow

Hi everyone,

I need to get a new passport because my old one does not have enough pages for a new visa. I came to Russia on a temporary visa but I'm working in Moscow and my employer will help me apply for a new working visa. I'll go to the American Embassy in Moscow this week to find out about the process. Has anyone renewed or gotten a new passport in Moscow at the American embassy? Or does anyone know about this process?

For those who do not know yet, I got mine in less than a week. In the USA it would have been 3 months.
This was in 2013 so do not know now as much has changed with the politics!!!!!!!
