Brit-Canadian in Sweden

markbase

Hi All,

My name is Mark Base.

I was born in Montreal, Canada.
I moved to London in 1990 (my dad's originally from England; I've got dual-citizenship).
I moved to Helsingborg, Sweden, in 2002. Moved here because of a girl (as many do), but it didn't work out, so I bought my own little place, pretty close to the city centre.
Luckily I have a job, and it's not annoying me too much being here, so I'll stick around for a while.
I started my blog at the end of December, 2005.
There's always something to write about when comparing Sweden and its culture & customs with what I'm used to.

See you around.

Cheers,
Mark

Did you speak swedish when you move? Is it complicated to learn?

Take care,

Julien

Welcome Mark!

Thanks for the nice welcome.
I started learning Swedish when I got here. I don't consider it very difficult to learn (except for the fact that many of the sounds are difficult for an English mouth). But I'm afraid I don't speak Swedish so much anyway; I work with internal communication, which is global, and therefore in English. But I can and do get by fairly well with my limited knowledge.

Moreover swedish people speak a very good english, don't they?

I heard that the movies on TV are not translated in Swedish. It must help a lot I think!
