Hi everyone
I think the gender question still hot, and we haven't reached anything yet. I am happy to have raised the question. Look, people have started thinking about their genders. I didn't feel embarrassed, becuase I didn't mean what others think ! bloggers thought of me as being a gay ?? No way my friends. My question was whether you like your own being as a man or a woman? not the male or female genders in general. Replying to such a question is like a reminder of your duties as a man or a woman.
Sure, most of you would say: Yes, I do like my being, but when being asked why?? what would be your answers like?
Hope I was clear
regards

i still find your question so gay :D .. no one thought about you being gay .. we thought that the question is weird. 2nd who started to think about his or her gender? i tried to find anyone complained or said anything regarding your question and nope no one said anything .. actually we laughed about your question thats it .. we found it wrong in a way .. and Gay in another way .. so stop imagining things mate lol!

LoopyLou87

Well the question was asked, it was questioned in return but nobody answered ... I think we should move this on to something a little more simple before somebody gets upset :/

Would you ever consider living abroad? ...

Kind of a wasted effort on part seeing as this is an expat forum But at least it is simple :D

my initial reaction was: "what?"

i did not find it funny or gayish though... i found it weird and confusing to think whether you are or not satisfied about your beingness... as man or woman... i cannot see any point of comparison or how will i even start of saying i wish i am not what i am.... *sorry for the words not found in wiki*

Mansour, why wouldn't you start answering ur question?

Living that would mean staying forever and ever until you die, yes, I would love to go to Australia and live there (Perth).. :)

Obviously, I am (just) working here now in Riyadh (not that I am saying there is no "life" here), but really had a bout of "consideration" before deciding to come over, and hopefully, just work for a few years... and finally "live" where I really want to...

hishamdba

Well, I like his attitude with Penny "Kaley Cuoco" and secret love that he have for her. Also his comments and the way he deals with
Sheldon Cooper "Jim Parsons". He is just funny.

riyadh11

oh well, we kind of mixed up... when you guys want to answer a certain answer (haha this is funny) or question, you may use the "quote" button it's not even a button, it's a link or whatever you might want to call it)... we are getting weirder each day :) unless one follows this thread all the time, it will be easier to decipher, otherwise, you will fall in the world of the oblivion/unknown :D

i think questing your "gender" is a little too deep of a question to ask on such a blog. i think you will be better off asking that *hot* question on a much advanced philosophical thinker's blog!

yes, i am happy with my "gender" and my sexuality and my role as a male member of the community surrounded by covered females.

as far as the new question about considering living abroad. i think you answered it yourself since we all are (at least 90% of us) are already expats on here...so duhh!

my question of the day is: what reaction do you get from your friends back home when you tell them that water here in saudi actually costs more than petrol/gasoline.

my mates back home cant help but drop their jaws at the fact that water here is almost twice as expensive than gas!

i can't relate much. Water is actually more expensive here than gasoline, true. But that doesn't mean that water in the Philippines is actually cheaper than here. You know what I mean? I never got billed of my water usage since I came here in Riyadh- no water bill, only electricity. Plus the regular bottled water costs just 1 riyal which is basically cheaper than bottled water in the Philippines of the same size- around 1.5riyals equivalent... :( so in terms of water and gas, it's actually cheaper to live here in Riyadh than in the Philippines :)

Mansour AlYami

Well, I guess it is better for us to leave the gender question unanswered. My idea was to raise a weir question that requires deep thinking, and so we get so many different answers, and perhaps dispute over them. This way I think we are likely to benefit more  on the philosophical level.
The new question about the gas price is a good one. I have been asked this question in Australia, and answered that gas in Saudi Arabia is cheaper than BOTTLED water. It was good to flatter, but in fact it is not true with myself as I got a well at home from which I get free potable water.

I think this is an excellent question.  For myself, I was always happy being a female because I never thought of myself as a female, per se.  Rather, I thought of myself as a 'person.'  I have always gotten by on my merits as a person and always felt that I was accepted as such. Maybe living in the US made this possible; maybe I was just lucky. I don't know.

Then I came to Saudi Arabia.  Here the 'no mixing' makes it very clear that we are not all people; rather, we are male and female.  There is this differentiation which may cause you to examine gender roles in particular societies.

Here, the men have more freedom, but the good man who lives up to his obligations also has more  responsibility. Women have much less freedom but don't have the financial responsibilities that they have in so many other parts of the world.

However, it's different being an expat here.  Here the expat men don't have the obligations of a Saudi man, but expat women (particularly single women) are restricted like Saudi women.

So if I had to choose which I'd rather be, an expat man or expat woman, I'd definitely choose expat MAN.

Other views? ;)

sad fact is that only in this part of the world you are seen as a male or a female and not a person. so this question is valid in this part of the world.

its like asking, do you like to smoke indoors or outdoors, when everyone in the world knows that smoking is injurious to everyone no matter where you do it, it shouldnt be done. but only in saudi you would have that question asked even in this day and age.

if the question about smoking isnt as "complex" then you might as well ask, should you beat your wife with a stick or a whip.... because there is an answer to that which can just as easily be turned into a discussion or a dispute but we all know its not right to beat anyone so much for your wife!!

hence that question being labeled as GAY! as it cant even be classified as an interrogative.

Mansour AlYami

Well, I am happy now, Alliecat is interested in my question, and has given a logical answer. However, I still need to say something about women status here in Saudi Arabia. If you think that Saudi women are restricted, I would say that I see them as princesses at their houses. Everything is almost provided for the for free, and thus they are free to provide what they ought to provide, something out of their hearts, not like men out of their hands. When I compare my situation as responsible for the whole family, financially and socially, I sometimes wish I was a beautiful blonde girl. lol
