The whole different culture I want properly expose to. I've been to china-- as a tpurist--- but that was long ago.

Well... you have no degree. So what? (Assuming that you are an American. Consider these options.)

A degree is helpful to get a job. If you want to visit China there are other ways than getting a degree and getting a working Z-visa.

You could be a tourist. It will cost money.
You could work in the US government and get a job in China.
You could be a student and attend a Chinese university.
You can set up a formal business, and wet a business visa to visit China.
You could marry a local girl.

Those are your options.

I would suggest that you apply to Chinese Universities and go to school there. There are numerous universities that accept non-Chinese students. The tuition is cheaper than the USA, but the expectations are much higher. However, once you spend a few semesters in China you will be well on your way to experiencing the Chinese culture with a whole slew of new friends.
