Hi All, need some advise. Am heading down to Futian for my new appointment in Jan and is looking for an apartment. I will be living alone. Any suggestion?

I am assuming you are referring to the suburb in Shenzhen, and not the town in Dongguang.

You can live anywhere near a subway station. I would suggest not being away further than a half an hour train ride. Ask your employer to help you find a place. In the mean time live in a cheap hostel until you can find a place. Depending on your needs you can pay as low as 400 RMB ($70/month) to 4000 RMB ($700/month) to 8000 RMB ($1400/month) plus utilities.

Yes you can get a cheap place to live. It will not have air conditioning, it will be full of cockroaches. It will be on the 7th floor in a building with no elevator. But it will be cheap.

Yes you can live like an expat. You will pay American prices for an American style apartment.

Ask your employer to help you find a place.
