No work permit - no work at all!
If you come as a tourist and find a job you will have to leave whilst the prospective employer applies for your work permit.

Thank you Ray

Hi Bianca, You can check with maltapark or facebook for rooms direct from owner so that you save some money that you have to give to the agents. Or if you prefer agents the try century21.mt or coldwellbanker.

As mentioned some of the questions you asked have been covered before, living in Mosta there are plenty of buses which pass through there, with regards a car you can only purchase one here once you have a residence card, as you are only going to be here for a short while you will probably find using buses will be sufficient, good luck.
Hi,
My Name is Alexander and I'm Swedish, currently residing in Belfast, Northen Ireland/United Kingdom.
I've lived abroad now for almost two years with never been outside of Scandinavia for traveling or living. Moving to Belfast was quite new as I've never stepped foot on an airplane before the age of 22. However this is something I've never regretted since I first moved and now I'm going to relocate to Malta for a new job at the end of August.
A new adventure, a new country and a new me hoping to enjoy Malta as much as I've enjoyed Belfast.
Cheers, this was me saying hello
Welcome to the Forum Alexander, if there is anything you need to know please ask, also you can find a
lot of information by using the search button, good luck with your move.
Hi everybody,
My name is Julian and I'm a 20 year old Chinese-Malaysian student here to study Economics. I'll be coming over to Malta towards the end of September
I'm having a little problem looking for accommodation at the moment. If anyone could recommend/offer me a place or has any information on where to look, I would be oh-so appreciative (p.s. I'll bring you out for drinks). My university is in Hamrun but anywhere within 30 minutes is fine!
Also, I want to pick up boxing while I'm here so if anyone has any information on a good boxing gym, that would be great. I could google but nothing like a bit of word of mouth, eh?
That's it for now. Looking forward to talking/meeting you guys!

Welcome to the Forum, you have already posted this once so you should get some response, there’s no need to do it twice, good luck in finding somewhere to live.
Hi People,
I made the mistake of blocking my PM lol because I am looking for a place to stay. But aside from that, I will be moving to Malta, Soon, and want to meet new people, let me introduce my self first.
My name is Mosab Barnawi, I am from England I have lived in Saudi Arabia for a while, I'm interested in language, and coding, not just because I'm into doing IT, I code my own Games, I have a passion for sports and intellectual discussions. I can speak two languages as far and there is nothing I cannot do almost.
I hope I get to learn the language when I'm there and experience the culture and have a great time.
Any tips on where to go etc will be much appreciated.
Hello, I’m Samira, my mother and I are moving to Malta in around 3 weeks time from the UK.

Ahoi...
My Name is Hans. Currently I'm doing a 2-year training as IT specialist focusing on system integration. This training requires a 6 month internship. Looking for options I discoverd the Erasmus program that provides monatery support when the internship is within the EU. Malta is among the viable options. Hence I'm curious about available opportunities on the island.
I already had a look at the jobs and housing sections of this website. Whereas the housing sections looks quite promising the jobs sections seems to be dominated by only a handfull of players. I realise Malta is limited in size and thus limited in the amount of probable employers, yet I have a feeling there are more. Apart from the obvious ones most companies and institutions employ digital environments to a handle their day to day routine or improve their existing infrastructure, i.e. utilities, hospitals etc. Do they have separate IT departments? Any recommendation on how to find/address them?
Does somebody know somebody who knows somebody in this regard? Any advice/recommendation is welcome.
Cheerz
Hans
Hello everyone!
I'm about to move to Malta, and I was pleased to come across this website to answer the many questions swirling in my head at this time of my change of scenery.
I got a job far away from home, so I'll escape the Finnish winter and swap to a very different kind of 'chill'. I'll start as a copywriter in the beginning of November.
I will be moving by myself, but I hope to soon find some like-minded company and friends. I love to have fun and laugh, I need to do sports, I crave witty exchange of words, I'm fond of reading, I want to trust someone. If you feel you are in the same sort of position, why don't you just contact me
Colorful fall to y'all!
Hello Paula
Welcome.. I moved to Malta a couple of weeks ago on my own and at the moment I am building a new social circle. People are on the whole very friendly here so Im sure you won't have a problem.
Depending on what sports you like there are clubs? I particularly like tennis and am in the process of joining a club, However it takes a couple of weeks to join so unless you know an existing member you can't play until your membership is processed.

If you need any further help or advice please let me know.

Hi,
My name is Charlie, I've been in Malta for about 3 weeks now. I was lucky enough to have an old friend, and colleague who moved to Malta a year ago stay with me in London and explained how good the life style is, and how he could help me get a job here. That was about 3 months ago, now I'm sitting on my roof terrace in Seggiewi, with an inexpensive bottle of wine asking my self why did I not do this sooner.
25years in central London hardens you into a working automaton. People here have lunch, not at thier desks, but sitting in a cafe and living.
So now I'm settled it is time to start enjoying the island.
One thing though.... the driving!!!! 25 years without a car and I move here!
Welcome to the Forum and to Malta, I think most of us always think why didn’t we move here
earlier, if there are any questions you need answering, hopefully we can be of help, please
feel free to do so.
Hi everybody,
my name is Pietro and I've been living in Malta for the last 3 years.
I come from the northern part of Italy (Varese).
I like living here, the main reasons I decided to move to are the weather and the sea and to improve my English, naturally!
Welcome to the Forum glad you are liking Malta despite the rain we are having at the moment.
Hi Bianca
How did the move go?! Sorry just logging onto the forum for the first time in a long time!
I moved myself from the UK around 4 months ago, so if you have any other questions just shout out.
...One thing I would advise is getting an umbrella if you don’t have one - Summer is officially over ; )
Cheers
Peter
You don’t normally need an umbrella, in the six years living here this is the wettest October we have known, December is normally a wet month but after the dry summers rain is welcomed
( but perhaps not as much as we have had) ! !
Greetings to all the exapts here!
I was born in Estonia, Tallinn and after finishing high school went straight here in 2012.
I am currently reading for my LL.B diploma and I want to work as a lawyer here. I am the only foreigner in my course lol. Fell in love with this country, although living in Malta has a lot of challenges especially now with the property market issue
Hey everyone. I am currently living in New Orleans, Louisiana (USA) and looking to relocate to Malta due to my interest in Blockchain Technologies. I am in a relationship and we have one dog that is about 60 pounds (~27 kg) and one small cat. Both animals are very well trained and up-to-date on immunizations.
I have just begun the research process where I am looking into the requirements to be able to stay for an extended period of time in Malta. Ultimately, I would like to achieve residency and purchase property, but starting out we are planning to find cost effective rentals while we get familiar with the area.
At this point in time, we would like to think about renting on the island of Gozo due to its rural nature and cheaper cost of living.
If you have any tips or suggestions on things that I should really know before taking on this large of a move I would love to read about them. Also, should you know of a company looking for a highly skilled blockchain developer please share the details!!!!
Thanks everyone and I appreciate the information this website/forum has already. I will be spending a lot of time reading and learning.
Welcome to the Forum, Gozo is a lovely island to live but if you intend to work in Malta the journey every day to work can be horrendous depending on where the workplace is.
This is Kwong who lives in HK. Nice to meet you all. I am planning to move to Malta since the place is really good for my family(2 boys, 12 & 5 yrs old). I would like to know how difficult to get a job as I am a procurement engineer for AO manufacturing field. Thanks!
Please be aware that you would not be able to come and live in Malta unless you have a job to come to first.
Job opportunities, generally, have to to be made available to Maltese Nationals first followed by EU Citizens and then Third Country Nationals, so it may not be that easy for jobs other than low paid ones.
It is also difficult to find a job when you still reside abroad as Maltese employers tend not to respond to emails foreign nationals or even locals!
If you could find a reliable recruitment agency that may help, also keep in mind that it is the employer who applies for your work permit and if your employment ends, so does your work permit and technically your residence in the country!
