Hi, my name is Coral and I’m South African, my husband is Dutch and we decided that me moving to Netherlands would be best.
I at the current moment only speak English and Afrikaans and I’m not sure how the job market is in that regards and which recruiters to use to help.

Please advise

Hi Coral and welcome to the Forum.

At the top of the page is a link to our Handy Tools section; if you select that, you'll get access to our Expat Guides that may help you in planning your journey.

Assuming your husband has kept his Dutch nationality, then you shouldn't have much problem in entering Holland.  As for a job, you haven't said what kind of work the pair of you do, but the recruitment agencies are all on the Internet and Google will help you there.

As for the language; Afrikaans is a mixture of Dutch, German and African tribal languages as they spoke them 200 years ago, it hasn't changed much in that time.  Nobody (except other South Africans) in Holland speaks it, but I wouldn't worry too much about that as most people will understand you and the Dutch/German part is close enough for you to pick it up quite quickly.

Once you've read the guides, if you have any other specific questions, please come back to us.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thank you for the feedback, I’m in the customer Service sector and my husband works for Regus in Amsterdam, one of my concerns is that I am not sure how quickly I can get into the job sector once I’m there and also what other legalities we might face

Hi Coral,

I'm sure that you'll agree that Communication skills are pretty important when working in Customer Services and that your lack of Dutch probably won't help; so I think it's safe to say that you're not going to walk into a job.  I forgot to mention earlier that we do have a jobs section on this Forum (top of the page); have a look in there and see what help you can get.

If there's nothing in our job section, then my advice is to use Google and find the agencies looking for people with your skill set, then phone them and ask the important questions; be prepared to be hung up on when they realise you can't speak Dutch; just persevere. Other options - you say your husband is already working for Regus in Amsterdam - they're a multi-national, perhaps they could help you find work, or at least point you in the direction of someone who can.

Hope this helps.
