Looking for an IT job in KL

aneesh01

Hi All,

I am Aneesh from India, currently working in an IT company in India.

I have total 6.6 years experience in software industry and I have worked in Maxis Communications in Kuala Lumpur for 2.5 years (April, 2014 - October, 2016) on deputation in telecom domain.

My major areas of expertise are PL/SQL development, UNIX scripting, Oracle, Perl, data migration, data
warehousing, Kenan FX, Informatica, tortoise SVN, manual testing, regression testing and data migration testing.

Can any one please help me to get a job suitable for my profile. I have tried applying the jobs through jobstore, jobstreet, monster. But the response is very poor, as my work permit got expired.

Regards,
Aneesh

Have you tried Jora and Glassdoor?  Also look for positions in other locations than KL, Selanagor and Cyberjaya. Doesn't matter about your expired EP because you need one requested by your current employer (i.e. they are not transferrable).

Perhaps some of the many IT guys on this forum will be kind enough to share their tips on how they found their job in Malaysia?

Perhaps the problem is your CV and your applications. They should be tailored to the Job Description of the vacancy so recruiters can clearly see you have the experience they want.

Don't forget our photo on the CV as well.

Thanks Gravitas for the information.
I have tried both Jora and Glassdoor. Also I have applied for some IT jobs in George Town, Penang apart from KL. But then also no response.

As you said, I will modify my CV based on the job requirements and will try in KL and other locations.

Hi Gravitas, I didn't got any response from the above organization. BTW, I have one doubt. My company have a notice period of 2 months. Suppose, one Malaysia company hired me, then, by what time they can start the visa processing? Means, during the time of  2 month notice period, or once I completed serving my 2 month notice period.

Gravitas

If you get a response within 7-10 days that would be exceptional and companies only contact shortlisted candidates.

It takes about 2 months to get the visa approval letter (VAL) after signing the Offer Letter plus the visa with reference  (VDR) (collected from Malaysian consulate in New Delhi, Mumbai or Chennai).

Do be careful about a "splattergun" CV, which just lists types of software knowledge rather than details about actual projects and experience gained. The best approach at least for Malaysia is to take what you do best and have done longest and match that to the vacancy requirements.

Just got to know about these people
