Free and low-cost leisure activities in the Bahamas

Hello,

We invite you to share some information regarding leisure activities that are free or low-cost in the Bahamas. This information will give future expats (or even current expats) an idea regarding some of leisure activities that they might not be aware of.

Is there a way to find out about free or low-cost fun activities in the Bahamas, such as a specific app, or a newsletter, or magazine, tourism board, etc.? How do you find out where events are organised?

What are the most common free leisure activities in the Bahamas?
Which free activities do you recommend for children, for teenagers, for adults, and for seniors?

Are there certain days where access to paid activities are offered at a lower price or even for free, such as museum entry, or exhibitions, or a theme park, etc.?

How do you maximise your leisure activities in the most cost-effective manner?

Thank you for sharing your experience,

Priscilla

Online Facebook market is the best where you can find events in Nassau or islands that you are in the Bahamas-- local events some are cheap some are expensive- like everywhere- lowest budget is to go to the beach, walk, go to a local restaurant/shack where locals eat.

Hi @Priscilla

Just as an update to your request and for anyone else still searching for the answer, I have some recommendations.

As of recent, the best land tour in my honest opinion is Pirate Jeep Tours. Its kid friendly and also can be freely customizable based on preference in the event anyone wants it to be more adults friendly as well. The tour is super convenient because they literally pick you up from wherever you are. It's the best way to see all the best sights in the Bahamas and you also get a funny yet knowledgeable pirate tour guide who can give you Ancient Bahamian History and Pirate History. Free samples of hand-made Bahamian drinks and pastries/sweets are also included.

If you want to book, the steps are easy:

  • Go to piratejeeptours.com and select Book Now. Pick your time, date and add all required information.
  • In the notes section, for your personal enhance experience, specify whether you want doors on with a.c or doors off to feel the breeze. It would also be nice if you state that it was "recommended by Kam" 1f601.svg (that part is definitely not an obligation lol)
  • Lastly, just pay and you're all set. Its best to do so in advance because they've been so popular recently that spots fill up incredibly fast.

When that's all said and done, request if they can drop you off to the Fish Fry so you can eat either Lunch or Dinner there. It's the best place to eat Bahamian cuisine. If not, then they'll happily drop you back to wherever you got picked up from. Give it a try! You won't regret it.
