Tax Deductions for freelancers (LL not declaring his rental income)

Hi guys,

I'm a freelance living in Malta (paying my taxes here) and working from home. I know that I can claim a tax deduction for the cost related to my rent and electricty bills, but the problem is that my landlord doesn't declare his rental income... I do have a rental agreement, but I'm not sure it is valid in these circomstances... And the electricity bills are under his name. I asked an accountant and he told me that since the bills are under his name I cannot claim a tax deduction for it... Same for the rent: every month he gives me a receipt saying that I paid, but nothing official under the law...

Does anyone of you have the same problem? Or know how I can resolve it?

It's really annoying to know that because my LL doesn't comply with the law by declaring his rental income I cannot enjoy my own rights!
