Expired passport with valid working visa on it

Post new topic

Bh-wanderer

I planned to take my vacation 4May, 2018
My bahrain working visa is stamped on my expired passport.

I already have my new passport and my employer still did not yet transfer my visa (working visa expires September 2018 ) on my new passport.

Will it be okey for me to exit bahrain for vacation to my country?

Will there be no issues when i come back to bahrain?   (Still with the same employer)

Thanks in advance.

XTang

No issues.   Carry both passports with you.   It hardly takes anytime to transfer the visa.  Go to LMRA Mina salman, take a token and hand both passports over; they will print and sticker the new one instantly.

Thanks  xtang

Aside from my old passport and new passport and cpr, are there any requirements i need to bring with me?

How much do i need to pay?

LhuLu

Xtang is right, but you cannot come to immigration yourself. Your employer should do that for you. And as far as i know i doesn’t cost any amount.

XTang

Just old and new passport is needed.  Company representatives registered as LMRA responsible or authorised personnel can do that.

Bh-wanderer

Thanks  Lhulu,

my employer is busy and if i will let him do it im pretty sure it will take him forever and my planned vacation is may 4. Im just making it sure.

Lhulu,  are you saying i cant go there (LMRA Mina Salman) on my own to do the process  ? ( @Xtang )

But in a worst case scenario lets say if ever my working visa wasn't stamped on my new passport. Immigration officer will allow me to exit bahrain for vacation purposes?

And will they allow me to enter Bahrain using both passports ( new passport and expired passport that has my working visa stamped on it.

FYI : i will still be coming back to my same employer

Thanks Xtang and Lhulu

They should let you exit.  Usually most people ask this question on entry.  Entry is never a problem.  On exit, I have heard only a couple of cases where people were asked to apply visa on the new passport before leaving but I think that was more due to the mood of the officer at the counter.

And yes, you need to be an authorised representative of your company to be able to deal with LMRA on it's behalf for all matters.  In LMRA terms, it is called being a "responsible" or "authorised" person.

I know one case personally where in the immigration official at the airport had printed out the visa and pasted it on the new passport. But we never know if the rules are changed, so i believe if you get it on the new passport before you exit it would be better

XTang

Exactly.

And I just noticed, your vacation is 4th May and we are still at end of march. Your employer cannot do a 10 min job of visa change even over a full month?

Bh-wanderer

Thinking of Worst case scenario only Mr. Xtang.

my old passport was expired January 12, 2018 prior to that date if im not mistaken i've been asking my passport wayback November and December 2017 for renewal. Sad to say that my employer gave my passport 14January and this kind of delays is what im trying to avoid.

XTang

Push them to do it. You have a month. Why take the pain for their laziness? It's your right.

Bh-wanderer

You are right mr. Xtang. I  appreciate your help.
