Hi. I'm a plumbing and heating engineer currently live in the u.k. I'm looking at the possibility of moving to the gold coast and stating the application process. Can anyone give me any info on starting life in Aus in this trade?
I guess I would have to some training? not sure if the starting wage would be enough to support my family out there. Thanks Rich.

If you have UK qualifications you would have to sit an exam before you can practice in Oz.
Plumber salary would be in the region of $55,000 to $70,000 hourly rate $35-$40.
Tax rates vary so you would end up with around $55,000 in the hand on $70,000.

For cost of living try www.numbeo.com  house / apartment rentals are not cheap on Gold Coast, 1 bdrm around $350 a week and 2 bdrm from $400 a week.
3 bdrm from $450 to $950 a week. Depends on area.
A Goolge search will give you an idea.
