I am not sure if the situation has improved greatly, but whenever I am in Amman I always notice how poor the maps are of the city. I did find a very good map recently though, at this link:

It can be zoomed in and is, I found, quite good for an overview of where every place is, complete with landmarks, for those who kind of know where the landmarks are but are not sure how it all hangs together...

if u live in Amman , u can visit Greater Amman Municipality in Ras Ali'n ... they will give u one for free

if you use a smart phone you wouldnt need a map at all,since you will have all the maps of jordan for free for example on nokia smart phones.i strongly recommend you get that and it will make your life way easier.
