Can I apply for a Resident permit while in Budapest for other purpose?

I applied in Hungary. And had to give a reason. My reason was accepted. So just try that first and see what happens. If the reason really is a good one, then it may be accepted.

Hi there, Thanks for the reply. Hope I'm not asking too much, will you be willing to share the reason via a private message? We're hoping to go tomorrow or next Thursday since Monday and Tuesday next week is a national holiday and Wednesday they're closed.

My advise is, just tell the truth why returning to your native country would not be convenient. That is all I did.

I had a pretty good reason: I had not lived in my native country for almost a decade before coming to Hungary, and returning there, after all that time, just to apply did seem a somewhat excessive request. And they accepted that as a good reason.
