51 year old living in uk thinking of moving to thailand.

hi im looking for advice on getting a retirement visa, is the best option to apply for visa in uk with proof of funds (£18,000) ,medical cert, poilce clearance and all other paperwork needed.
then all going well get visa, does this visa cover me for a year in thailand and during that year do 90 day reports to immigration and open thai bank account to transfer funds (£18,000) to meet visa rules.

Then after a year when visa is due i will get a visa extension for another year.
is this the best way to do this?

Everything you say is correct and the one year will start the day you enter Thailand.

When you apply for the first extension your Thai bank account must not fall below 800k baht during the 2 months prior to application.  In subsequent years the period of time is 3 months.

Don't wait till last day for extension always do early.  Although I have never encountered
a problem I always do mine two weeks early so I can sort any problem.

thanks for the help just wanted to make sure, i will apply early for any extensions.
