When I have to leave Malaysia after job contract termination?

Post new topic

Hello Friends,

I urgently ask your kind advice.

Today, my company has terminated my employment contract due to the changes in the structure.  :( It's a quite big shock for me especially, that  I have only one month of notice. I'm only aware that employer has to report this fact to Immigration Office in order to cancel my Employment Pass, most probably at the beginning of July.
Can anyone advice in the immigration procedures in particular how many days/weeks can I stay in Malaysia before my visa expires? I have various obligations in Malaysia and I am afraid that I will not be able to complete them within a month. What are the solutions to stay a little longer?

Thank you a lot in advance for any information/ suggestions!

Your company should send your passport to immigration to cancel (shorten) the Employment Pass. To do this you book a flight for the date you will leave. You need to do Income Tax Clearance (company will provide Leavers Certificate).

You can re-enter Malaysia as a tourist for 90 days to organise your affairs.
