Best season to move to Tunisia

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hello,

Many expats choose to move to Tunisia at a specific time of the year, and we invite you to share some tips about the best seasons to move to the country.

What is the best season/time of the year to move to Tunisia, and why?

How do rent prices fluctuate based on the different seasons?

Is there a change in the job market depending on the seasons, such as job availability?

Are there any seasonal festivals or cultural events that would allow you to learn about the country?

What are the times of year to avoid for expatriation to Tunisia?

During which season did you move? How did it go?

Thank you for sharing your experience,

Priscilla

I will be moving in the middle of September which I think is a perfect time to be moving. I will be moving to Kelibia. It's quite a touristic city during the summer because of it's well known beaches. The rent goes up a LOT during summer and there's not a lot available for rent anymore as many people rent out apartments during the whole season. So in September, when the season is over, rent will go down substantially and there's a lot of choice on the apartment and housing market. I will surely try and take advantage of that. For my case in particular I think it's great I'll be moving in September as well because I want to try and become a teacher in a school (or offering private classes as well) and September is when schools start again so I'll be there right on time to get a job. I do advice others to not move during summer (or worse, only visit during summer to get to know the country) as it is not a true representation of how the country and it's ambiance is in general. Summer is always nicer than other seasons ;) Kelibia for example can be very, very cold during winter and there's not that much to do during autumn and winter but I've been there for long periods of time during those seasons as well and know now that I do really love the city in all seasons. I am now 100% sure of wanting to move there and am okay with a different ambiance than the high-energy-no-sleep kind of summer ;) . However, as I am working and finishing my degree during summer in Belgium I will miss out on the well known Amateur Film Festival of Kelibia (FIFAK), which is a bummer. But as it is an annual festival, I'll be experiencing it for the rest of my life (haha) every month of August!

Spring and fall are the best times for you to arrive. The summer is extremely hot and the winter is cold and cloudy. I came here permanently in December and it was a hard time for me to transition. Even though I came from a northern state it was still cold for me.
As I am retired I didn't have to hurry and acclimate quickly.
Rentals are high during the summer months, but in the fall the become lower.
