Post new topic

Tony1874

Dear anyone,

I have just joined the expat.com site, we are a family of five from the UK looking and looking to relocate to Mauritius in September/October with the big picture off setting up our own business. I am looking for any advice which would enable me to find a repeatable company that could help me set up and register a new business.

Please feel free to contact me.

Regards,
Anthony

Dear Anthony.... we are a couple - no kids. After traveling and working in China, Mongolia and India extensively, we are back in India and staying in Mussoorie, India.
I'm in the process of moving to Mauritius and looking for like minded business associates....
Marketing, sales, setting up of new business ventures is my forte...
At present I'm self employed as a Business cum Legal advisor...
If you feel we can move forward together, then please do let me know..
We can exchange our profiles and consider some business venture...

I am PRIMARILY looking for a challenging senior management position in an appropriate field which is in line with my experience.
Job preference being, New Business Development and Setup, administration,
Sales & Marketing, Business Management training and teaching.
My individual strengths: Trustworthy, dependable & result achiever. Prefer hardship locations.

Thanks and with warm regards
Vijay Mohindra.

Hello Tony

The first thing to be done is assessing whether your business is feasible and viable. The second thing is whether this business respects the conditions of the BOI with regards to Investor permit (that's what you will be looking at), i.e : MUR 4 million as minimum annual turnover and an investment of not less than USD100,000.

Once you're confident on the above, then paper work comes into play.

Thank you for your advice and response, do you know off any business that will hep you set up?

Hi Anthony,

Your first point of contact is EDB (Economic Development Board) - this office issues occupation permits for investors and self-employed professionals. Criteria for an investor permit is to invest USD 100,000 in Mauritius and to achieve cumulative turnover of Rs 12m in 3 years; for self-employed professionals, investment is USD 35,000 and cumulative income of Rs 2.4m in 3 years.

You need to register your business with the Corporate Business and Registration Department (CBRD) in Mauritius. Net profits/ income are taxable at 15% and VAT is at 15% - taxes are administered by the Mauritius Revenue Authority.

You can refer to the website of various authorities for more info and reach out to me anytime.

All the best.

Hi Anthony,
Procedures for setting up and registering a new company are quite straightforward.
The most important issue is that your business plan makes sense financially and economically (like adding value to the local economy). The EDB may not agree to a business venture that will only serve to increase competition among current players.
Please send your business proposal in a private message and I’ll see how we can help.
