Hi there,

I want to know if there is any chance for me to get the dutch citizenship>

I was born in Netherlands specifically in Helmond, from 2 Moroccan parents, my father passed almost 32 years working in NL but he never thought about getting his citizenship, once i was born he decided to get back to his home country Morocco, I was 2 or 3 years old back then. Now, that I'm 19, I'm wondering if I can get my dutch citizenship, I looked over dutch citizenship website, and I didn't find anything that can help ... so if there is any one who can guide me through instructions to get my citizenship I will be so grateful.

Thanks in advance.

You do not make clear if you also went back to Morocco. If you stayed in NL since birth you have no difficulty in becoming Dutch.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

Dutch nationality law is based primarily on the principle of "jus sanguinis"; what this means, is that you inherit the nationality of your parents, not the country where you were born.  Based on what you've told us, you will not qualify for Dutch nationality.

Probably not what you want to hear, but I wish you the best of luck in pursuing your journey.

Hope this helps.
