Hi all,

I am hoping to get some advice. I have been offered a position for a company in Kenya, Nairobi in particular.

The company have asked me for various documents which is fine. The one document that they have requested which I feel may be a problem is a Police Vertificate from my country. On this Police Certificate is going to state that I have a drink driving charge. I completely appreciate how bad this is and I am very ashamed of my actions. But I cannot change that now and can only move on with my life and be a better person and make better decisions.

My question is, will drink driving conviction on my Police Certificate prohibit me from getting a working Visa in Kenya.

Thanking you in advance.

It is difficult to say whether this charge will affect your chances of employment.  The visa application form does ask about criminal convictions and on the whole the Kenyan Government would probably prefer you to have a clean sheet.

I imagine that you will just have to submit the police certificate and hope for the best.  It will be your employer who makes the work permit application in any case.

Thank you for your help.
