Hi all,

Originally from South Africa but now in the UK. My kids and I have a Dutch passport and my husband has the 5 year EEA visa.

We are considering moving to the Netherlands but was wondering if we would still need to get a MVV visa for my husband even though we have been in another EU country for over a year.

We originally wanted to go to the Netherlands but being apart for so long whilst I set up home and found work  in the Netherlands was not viable.

How do you do it?! Would I really need to leave my husband here in the UK while I get a job etc in the Netherlands?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

If your husband has a long-term residence permit for the UK, then he is exempt from MVV.  Apply for a family visa for your husband; this link will take you to the relevant part of the IND website.

Hope this helps.
