Purpose of Housing Agents?

Post new topic

gothichild

I recently signed a one-year lease on a ground floor unit in the Pudong District.
A week after I moved into the apartment, the landlord requested for the apartment back, with no reason.

There is a clause in the contract that indicates, in the event of contractual termination by the landlord, they (the landlord) would have to return my 2 months deposit and compensate another 2 months (equivalent to the deposit).  When I spoke to the agent (James) from Home of Shanghai, he simply told me the landlord refused to pay and that he did not want to get involved.

My question is, why have a contract if it cannot be honoured?  I have had to incur such a lot of expenditure and inconvenience because Home of Shanghai and their agents ha e simply washed their hands off a cintract they have drawn.

Is there anything I can do?

As your agent who wrote the contract, James is your representative.

Its true he might not have known the change that the landlord

1. Keep the contract that you signed (this is your proof)
2. Go back with a friend who speaks Chinese and explains the situation.
3. If the agent cannot help then talk with the landlord to negotiate
