Double Taxation - India & Malaysia

Post new topic

bala2000k

I was working in India from Apr 2017 till October 2017, have paid all the taxes in India in INR as part of my payroll. I have re-located to Malaysia in November 2017 from my office (same organization) started paying tax in MYR since then, as part of my Malaysian payroll.

I was told by one of my colleague that I would need to pay Indian tax for the amount I have earned in Malaysia from November 2017 till March 2018, I felt its ridiculous as an Individual I would be paying double tax to both Malaysia and India for the period of November 2017 till March 2018.

Personally, I don't think it makes sense from the individual standpoint, Is there a way to come out of it?

Has anyone gone through this situation? Appreciate your inputs.

Yes my timings are also the same; April till Oct 2017 in India and Nov onwards in Malaysia. You are correct you need to pay taxes in India. I just did mine and am filing my return now for India. I can help you with it but it's too much to type. You might wanna give me a call and speak!
