I might move to Cairo for about 6 months, starting within the next 3 months . In that context I am looking for websites or other sources of information regarding apart-hotels/serviced apartments in Dokki or Zamalek areas

If you are looking for quality just across the river from Zamalek the Hilton world trade centre has lovely 2 or 3 bed apartments for about $3,400 per month. There is a similar Hilton apart hotel opposite actually on Zamalek which may have similar prices.

Yes but I think I have no choice because my stay in Caito will be maximum for 8 months and I guess no landlord would accept to tent out a flat for such a period of time

Why not search for airbnb cairo. I did a quick search, places available. You may be able to negotiate a price for long stay.
