Working conditions and labour laws in Portugal

Post new topic

Hello,

Working conditions differ across the world, and as a working expat, it is important to know your rights as an employee.

Are working conditions standard in Portugal? For instance, are working hours, paid time off, and sick leave different for expats v.s. locals? Do they differ based on the type of company (private, public, NGO)?

Are there laws in place regarding physical conditions of the office, employee protection, etc.?

What are some resources in Portugal to inform people about labour laws and employee rights (websites, governmental associations)?

Have the general working conditions or labour laws changed in any way lately?

How do the working conditions and labour laws in Portugal differ from your country of origin?

Thank you for sharing your experience,

Priscilla

Labour's and employees are very careful as well as warmly protected by law in portugal ,despite of laws many workers are still found cheated by owners.peoples from another country illicitly,Asia, found ill treated .as per portugal law working hour is 8hrs a day and 40 hrs a week which counts to be 176 hrs a month ..and more then eight hour a day if anyone works is eligible to be paid as overtime .secondly there are 2ways of salary accounting one ,580€ per month and second 676€per month ,difference between these two ways of payment is if an employee is paid 580€ per month by employer ,employer has to pay extra 2 months which includes holidays Adweek as Christmas bonus that means  employer should pay 14 months salary whereas in second condition 676€ will be paid only 12 months which doesn't includes any bonus respectively .in short 580  € is for 14 months and 676€for 12 months .

I would also like to request ,please check and observe those restaurants, shops or any other business firm mostly opened by asian and controll there salary system how Nd how much they pay to there employee ...i assure you result will definitely astonish you ...they never pay there workers .......one dark side of portugal .
