Please help: Research Study on cultural diversity at work

Post new topic

JoepH

Hello, Bonjour, Hola, Hallo,

Let me introduce myself: My name is Joep, I am a student of organisational psychology at the University of Groningen, in the Netherlands. Being a child of expats, I have had some experience with going abroad a living among people of different cultures.

For my final dissertation, I have decided to study some of the psychological aspects of working in a culturally diverse environment. I have set up an online questionnaire, which I hope will be filled out by people working in such an international environment.

I understand expats are usually very busy people, but I hope some of you would be willing to donate 15-20 minutes of your time to fill out my survey. 1 Euro will be donated to UNICEF for each completed survey.

Here's the link:

Of course all information will be processed anonymously. Thank you all very much.

Best regards,

Joep

Jij bent de eerste Nederlander die ik hier tegenkom. :)

Hoi,

Always nice to meet Dutchmen / women living abroad. Where do you work?

Hi Joep,

Always happy to help out another student with their research. Sounds like a very interesting study! I'd love to hear about the results. Good luck with it!

Hmmm...after looking at it more closely, I wonder if it's appropriate for me to fill it out as a PhD student, not someone working in a company-type job...

JoepH

It doesn't really matter what type of organization you work for, or what type of work you do, as long as you work together (in team context) with people from different cultural backgrounds. I'm sorry, maybe I should have mentioned this in my earlier post.

I'm not sure what field you are doing a PhD in, but I have been told that a lot of PhD students work together on projects, so in that case I'd be very grateful if you'd fill out the survey.

Thanks,

Joep

This article, I wrote, was published in an international magazine called IS Magazine.
I am still working, "hard", on my master's thesis on this topic, literally enculturation in international schools. I hope it helps.

Yeah, I work all by myself, which is why I didn't think it was too relevant for me after looking a bit more closely at it. Anyways, good luck with it! I'm sure you'll collect some interesting data!
