Very difficult. It all depends on the nature of the relationship and whether you are both educated and financially stable. If you are going to be the one supporting him then it generally won't work.

We are both educated but neither of us at the moment are stable. Although  I guess myself being in the Western world may look a little more stable but at the moment I'm not. He said its the mans job to support his family and said he is more than willing to do any kind of work here

So he basically wants to come to Canada? Just to let you know, marrying him does not guarantee that. Another Canadian lady came to Ghana and got married and had a baby with her husband but is still not able to get him into Canada. I know another lady who had the same problem. Most authorities tend to see the marriage as a marriage of convenience.
