Renewal Of Cedula, Residance permit

Post new topic

I am coming up to my 3rd renewal, due 23 December. My problem now is I won't be able to make it back to DR before the end of January. Will this create issues in the renewal process. Normally, how long is the renewal. Last time it took over 2 months.

We renewed ours for the 4th or 5th time (losing track) a few months ago.  We did it in PP and after getting it all submitted , including the physical we were off to SD two weeks later to get the cards (residency and new Cedula).

I believe you have at least 30 days after they expire to renew with no problem but that is something you need to check out first.  I am sure someone here will know this aspect for sure.

I believe you can do much of it online ahead of time then when here finalize it.

Thanks Planner, Bob. It would be a great help to start on line.

I applied for my 3rd renewal 45 days in advance of the early November renewal date back in September. I did not get notice to go for the medical and deposit documents with my lawyer until two weeks later. After the medical they are supposed to issue your residency in ten working days. It took more than 3 weeks. I got my new cards a couple of days before the old ones expired.

It is slow now according to my lawyer who has clients who have applied several weeks ago but still waiting for the medical.

You can renew even years later, BUT, much additionalpaperwork & a whole lot of money. Fines plus fees AND a $500usd charge per year late.  My lawyer (local) said it can be done.

Thanks Tinker. Yes my lawyer says the same.
