Commuting times

Post new topic

We have recently arrived in Mauritius and we are looking for a house.  Please can you advise realistic commuting times from West Coast (Tamarin, Flic en Flac or Albion) to Phoenix (for school) and Port Louis / Ebene (likely work places).  We are trying to decide between preferred location of West Coast or whether to compromise and live inland to reduce commute.  Thanks for your help.

By car

Flic en Flac to Port Louis: 30 mins depending on traffic jam
Flic en Flac to Phoenix: 15 mins
Flic en Flac to Ebene: 30 mins depending on traffic jam

Thank you - that's good! I heard horror stories of 2 hour commutes at peak time.  Even if double to 1 hour at peak time, it's ok.

Well...I was a bit conservative in the figures I gave you. Depending on traffic jam especially in the morning and afternoon, the time taken to reach somewhere can well double  or more.

Now if you are taking the bus, you should add around 30-45 mins to each journey.
