This is just a matter of flight searches - no one can really help you as prices vary depending on when you intend to fly.

From the west coast should be the cheapest. Try from SFO or LAX.

Due to the high volume of passengers travelling to VN from the West Coast, fares from LAX are always the least expensive.  After LAX, it's SFO.  Unless there are sales, flights from the East Coast are usually about $100 higher.

As Fred says, only you can search for the dates you are going, and even then, fares can fluctuate greatly.

However, don't overlook Hawaii, Alaska, Guam and other U.S. territories/protectorates as possibilities.

A good VOA agent will also sell tickets, and may be able to do a more comprehensive search than you can accomplish.

I use Justfly.com for my flights to VN. They usually have many options and their prices are pretty good. Usually depends on how far in advanced, airport flying out of, airport flying into, sometimes how many stops, one or two way.

Thanks guys ! It’s been very helpful, LAX seems very cheap. Never thought about it. Hugs !👍🏻👍🏻

It is possible to fly direct from Bogota to Honolulu but I don't know if it results in a less or more expensive trip to continue to Vietnam.  Most people from Honolulu fly to Ho Chi Minh with China Airlines (Taiwan) but that is because local Viet travel agents bulk purchase tickets and pass on a good part of the discount.  Purchased directly, Philippine Airlines is usually the least expensive from Honolulu to Vietnam.  They also are more liberal with baggage allowances.  It may be the same from the mainland.

One other thing that may not seem instinctual but San Francisco/Oakland is pretty far west of Los Angeles which makes westbound tickets to Asia cheaper.  Of course your ticket from Columbia may be more going to SF.
