Are you able to travel back and forth thru the border relatively easy right now? Are you able to travel back and forth from Mexico to San Diego with just a passport as many times a week as you want or do you need to have a temporary residency status. I am asking because I want to work in San Diego and live in Rosarito with my fiance and our son, he can't live in USA til after we marry in Mexico and begin our paperwork. Any help would wonderful

Going across into Mexico is not a problem. You will rRely be stopped unless you are driving a van or pick up. If you are your passport will be sufficient.

Getting back to the US is not a problem but considerably slower with just a passport. It would be wise to get Global Entry or Sentri to allow you to use the Sentri lanes. It will save you hours each week.

You can cross with just your passport.Might take awhile. Walking across is usually faster but you will have to fill out a visa app daily. Driving across depending on the time of day can take hours.Like  Mreid51 said getting the Sentry would make it much faster. Also next year there will be a toll crossing that will get you across in about 20 minutes.
