Visa extension at border.

I have a VR Visa single entry, which I extend every 6 months at the local immigration police. I’m now planning to go on vacation to Cambodia.

When I return to Vietnam via the Moc Bai border gate, my Visa will no longer be valid.

Do I have to buy a new Visa or can I renew my current visa at the border post and how do I do this?

You're best to check out an agency if you're not familiar with the process. They have a few around the backpacker's alley (on De Tham by Pham Ngu Lao St). They can give you the best strategy for your particular situation.

Just get a new visa issued in Cambodia whilst you are there, save any hassles with the Moc Bai mafia.

Moc Bai is the busiest border post in the south. The police there can and will try to extort money from you.
