Sounds like you guys are planning a military campaign!  Enjoy the game, but don't tell me who won, because I don't care. :lol::lol::lol:

Damn, looks like a singles cook-out. I grilled
some sliders early on, so I'm still full. The chili
beans is still simmering ( with the McCormick
seasoning I brought from the States) and the Buffalo wings is ready to start in a little bit. I also got Doritos and I made a Guacamole dip.. Man, I'd like the Rams to win but the Patriots is a heavy favorite...

I Live in Arrial d'Ajuda Bahia which is part of (the more expensive part, district of Porto Seguro). With that said, Porto is a Tourist Town, and Arrial is The Very Nice, Exclusive (and please not bragging, just stating facts) part of town and its economy is based upon Tourism. Any town in the world that has an economy based upon Tourism will Always be more expensive.
But, then we have to compensate for Porto being in One of the Poorest States (Bahia) of Brazil, that said, being in a poor state and culture drives prices down. So, I can give prices of Porto Seguro and Arrial d'Ajuda but also that of Itabuna Bahia ( a Very Poor, but upcoming town in Bahia about 4 hours from Porto where my wife is from originally, and all her family live currently and where we go to at least once a month due to family and also my wife owns a building there that she rents out)
Cigarettes in Arrial, a pack of Marlboro used to be 10 real and now are 12 real, in Itabuna they are 9 Real
But a pack of Winston is only 5 Real!
A Heineken beer in Arrial is now 10 real, used to be 7 real, in Itabuna a Heineken is only 6 Real
A Big Skol is only 5 Reai
Snickers Bar is 2.5 Reai
Bus fair in Arrial is 3.5 real, used to be 3 real
I dont know about Itabuna,  dont use the bus there
A Taxi from airport of Porto Seguro to farthest point of Porto about 6 kilometers (where the river crosses to Arrial d'Ajuda) cost about 35 real, used to be similar, no noticeable change in that.
Same for Itabuna, it cost about 10 real to take Taxi from bus center to wifes family house in Centro, which is about 2 kilometers, no noticeable difference
A Very nice Lobster dinner at a Special Restaurant in Arrial used to be 90 Real, is now 110! But that is still a Great Price as Far as I'm concerned, includes potatoes, pasta and rice! And as said, Lobster for Two!
A Dinner of Fillet Mignon for me and Salmon for wife, includes rices and salad ($R150) but is a very Beautiful Restaurant (And Food is the best I Have Ate Within Brasil) which sits on on cliff overlooking the Atlantic, quite a Spectacular little gem we found with this place!
Lunch or dinner at a regular restaurant, to include rice/salad/entree is about $r 50 real, no difference from last year
Groceries at Supermarket remain about the same, I spend about the same this year as last, sorry, i can not say exactly how.much for what, typical man, i just pay for the total bill. But we usually buy enough vegetables (every veggie imagined as we love em) as well as meats as we love both meat and veggies. We but about 6 bags of groceries for about 400 real....usually.....sorry i dont have specifics other than Rice, Rice costs about 3 Real for a small bag, a Loaf of bread cost about 8 real...
A Haircut in Arrial or Porto, 25 Real, used to be 20 Real
Itabuna, the Same Price
Cat foot about the same, 20 Real for 3 kilos
McDonalds is the same, 25 Real for a Complete meal.
B.Q Dinner (Itabuna )for two at a nice sidewalk cafe is about 50 Real, no change
Medicines, ALL Medication is 25% Cheaper in Itabuna versus Porto Seguro. We Buy All Of Our Medicine in Itabuna.
MEDICATION; Itabuna for a pack of Oxycontin 20 mgs (30 tablets) is only 375 Real in Porto it is about $R 500 real ( I was Hurt in Iraq, have to take medication for life due to neck being broke, and I had an artificial implant in neck of about 5 cm)
Also every other medication I take as well as what my wife takes is at least 25% cheaper in Itabuna, my wife takes many drugs due to stroke 10 years ago, and All Are At Least 25% Cheper in Itabuna versus Porto/Arraial!
In Itabuna, My Wife just Rented out single office unit (she has a very nice, very well maintained business building with 6 units, including security) an office that has shower and full bath, 10×6 meters approx for $R550 monthly Real, No different than rent she charged last Two years.
My Rent in Arrial d'Ajuda, Rent ($R22k) Yearly increased by 2k from 2018. I Pay 22k Real Yearly for my One bedroom, One bath, full kitchen 350 sq meters casa wich is part of a Posada/Condo complex. But, We Are On the Beach in Arrial d'Ajuda Bahia.
A 200 sq meter unit on the beach, just a hole in the wall i Rented before finding this used to cost me $R500 Real
Clothing is much much cheaper in Itabuna than Porto. I do not buy clothes in Porto or Arrial d'Ajuda due to the "Tourist" Pricing.
A Nice pair of shorts in Porto (nice means good quality) are at least 80 to 90 Real. In Itabuna a Nice pair of Shorts=40 to 50 Real.
A Nice shirt in Porto or Arraial d'Ajuda is between 75 to 90 Real, In Itabuna a nice shirt is about $R40 to $R50
Internet with Major Company (Outcenter) 20 mg of high speed data, 100 real (actually went down in cost by 20 real)
Phone for Two People thru OI, 15 mgs share is $R 125 Real, No different than last year.
SKY TV is the same as Last year, for our cable. $300 Real for a package that included about 5 HBO channels, 5 cinemax chanells, 5 ESPN as well as every channel available in Brasil.

I Am Grateful that my Retirement is Based Upon American Dollars....and the Dollar to Real is Very Sweet right now, about 3.75
But also, I earned my retirement due to 27 years of service to my Country in the U.S.M.C and retired at a very high rank (Colonel).
I do not know how the average Brazilian lives on the salary they receive (on average 1200 real per month), but they do (like my wifes family) and they make ends meet somehow and also seem to be very happy with their lives and Life in General.
I am Grateful to God that He delivered me a Great Woman and then directed me to live here in Brasil with Her, where with my American Retirement live quite nice. Thanks God

Like your story I am also retired in Brazil with my Brazilian wife and family. I am in the interior in a small town called Imperatriz on a river. My wife owns two homes so we live in one and rent the other. I served in the Medical Field for over 35 years. Just got my permanent resident last year. The prices here are less not a tourist town. We just bought a new SUV very interesting of course it cost more here than in the US even with the exchange at 3.8 to 1 dollars. You are right being paid in Dollars make it go much farther.  I am a bit jealous your in one of my favorite places to live. Life is more simple here but have great friends and family that I love.
