We will be moving into our flat in the Eixample next month and could use some help finding major appliances (other than El Corte Ingles). Looking for a new refrig, dishwasher and clothes washer/dryer. Appreciate any guidance.

Sad but true...try a big carrefour like out in Plaça Glories...they deliver too.

There's lots of little guys, but one of the reasons I have heard why Catalans are willing to pay the prices at El Corte Ingles is that if there is a problem, they deal with it. What that implies about everyone else leaves me thinking I would buy big appliances from a well known BIG store.

We had a pretty good experience buying our washer and dryer from Miró (several locations throughout the city--there's one on Ronda Sant Antoni and one on Carrer de Sants). I did a lot of price comparison, including El Corte Inglés, and Miró had the best deals. The delivery and installation was done the next working day, and done efficiently. Since we haven't had any problems, I can't report on follow-up re: warranty etcetera.
