Keeping fit in New Zealand

Hello everyone,

Keeping fit during your time in New Zealand is of utmost importance. How about sharing with us and your fellow expats how you keep healthy in your host country?

What are your daily health hacks in New Zealand?

Do you exercise regularly? What is your go-to sport?

Do you manage to keep your diet healthy and balanced? How easy is it to maintain a balanced diet in New Zealand? Are you able to find organic products easily?

Are there national or local incentives to foster a healthy lifestyle: sensitisation campaigns, sports infrastructure etc. ?

How much of your monthly budget is dedicated to keeping fit?

Please share your experience,

Priscilla

Gee there is so much outdoor sport going on here all year round and a big percentage of the population take part as do i. NZ has been gradually increasing its network of cycle ways so that is a very popular pastime. There are also many parks and places to run in. I personally enjoy both of these activities. Many Kiwis play rugby as well as football cricket and of course tennis. Lots of people enjoy the opportunity to get out on the water, be it sailing, canoeing, swimming or lifeguard competitions. Indoor sports such as badminton (which i love) and squash are popular.  I am vegetarian and we grow some of our food. Organics are becoming increasingly popular as well.
