Hello Guinea Conakry forum members,

This is my first message...

My name is Maria, In terms of my nationality, place of birth and upbringing - I'm from New Zealand, and in terms of my ethnic origin/roots I'm Samoan/West Polynesian.

I intend to learn more about Guinea, the cultures and society in general, the history, the people, and what is it like to live and work there as a local, and what it is like for foreigners or expats and so on, as I'm planning and preparing to travel there in the near future. What brings me to Guinea? and to want to know more Guinea? It is my partner's homeland :-)

I'm aware of the rising political situation that is currently unfolding in Guinea, and like many others in this forum, I'm following the news and current events.
