Hi, thanks for the welcome.
My wife and I are just starting to explore the possibility of emigrating to Tennessee (possibly Clarksville area) from Wiltshire in the UK with at least one of our three children. I am a high school Science teacher and hope to get a work offer.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi there, I am actually physically located in Clarksville, TN - I work from home but my company is based out of Virginia Beach, VA. I can definitely assist if you have any questions or cultural interests! I spent many years in Europe and so I hope I can help.
Hi Rach,
Thanks for getting in touch.
I'm sure we will be bombarding you with questions about the Clarksville area over the next few weeks!
What was it about Clarksville that led you to relocate there?
Hi all, I'm a newbie, as I need help as helpful websites about moving to USA & getting visa etc, etc are actually confusing & contradicting one another. I would like to Emigrate to Boston massachusetts (well Sudbury to be more precise). I fell in love with the Sudbury area years ago when I was a child, still love the place. I've nearly finished my training in autism, special needs education, and a diploma in education, I'm a single mum to a boy & we're both massive marvel fans (who isn't lol), I love arts, history, music, socialising, cooking & meeting new people.
Hi all,
New to this forum. I am from Scotland and have lived in the US before from 2000 to 2005. I am now looking for a way back in, perhaps through the E-2 visa route although I do have two grown up children about to become US citizens sometime soon.
Anyhow good day to you all where ever you may be.
Hi This is Chuck. I have been to Uruguay way back in 2014. I am here in Uruguay now. I most likely will come in the next year. I would like to get acquainted with americans living here in Uruguay
Hi guys, since I've been living in the US for 40 years now, I don't know if I still qualify as an expat. I love to network and meet new people. I live in the Greater New York area and if I can be of any assistance to any of you, please hit me up (as my kids say).
I honestly don’t think that’s right, you can get in touch with me if you need more light on that
Hello everyone,

I am a new expat. I welcome any tips and suggestions for moving/living in oman.

Lambert82 wrote:I have US citizenship, would i even qualify? My mother still is listed as having Vietnamese citizenship but she left the country back in 79 or 80. My father,i dont talk to him anymore, has US citizenship also after taking the test.
Sorry I didn't see your comment until now. Sometimes I missed a forum notification while travelling, which made me look like I ignored the person with whom I was conversing.
Yes, as you're a child of Vietnamese parents, you're qualified for VEC. It doesn't matter that your parents are no longer Vietnamese citizens. If you're married, your wife is also qualified for VEC, her nationality notwithstanding.
How's your May trip to Vietnam?
Hello! Little Frenchie here...
I would be mostly looking at how to get a job in the US, and how to make new relations!

Hi everyone
My husband and I just moved to Carrolton Texas from South Africa. Looking to connect with South Africans and any business opportunities in the area.
Thanks

Getting a job is not difficult in USA if you are authorized to work. But everything online. You have to register with job sites like indeed.com to get a regular job. If you like a government job you will have to make an account at the county or city webs. Then visit frequently and apply. But first of all you have to get your educational certificates accredited by USA. Because you need to attach those certificates to every professional job you apply online.
Good luck!

Unfortunately, this USA forum is not for job search. You're welcome to post your CV and other pertinent info in our Jobs section.

Hi,
No one can help you in finding a job for you. That is the research you should do at home. Every job is online in USA. You have to apply online. After uploading your resume and all of your academic certificates to their web, some government jobs ask you to submit the hard copy to their office.
There are some non-profit organizations that can help you to some extent like helping you how to make a nice resume. And sometimes they have job postings too. I can Recommend you goodwill Job Connecting Center where I got assistance to get a nice format for my resume. If you do not have access to internet you can use their help plus they will give you free computer training.
I recommend you to find any job with any pay first and then start to apply for a good job because getting a good job is not easy. That is a long process. Until you will get it, you have to survive in the country first... paying bills and taxes. So walk in to all hiring places and apply. May be that is not your dream job and you may feel bad but hang in there until you will find a better opportunity.
I think this will help.
Good luck!

Hello, or as they say in North Carolina, Howdy Y'all.
My name is Khalida. I am not entirely new to the United States, as I performed postgraduate work at New York University some years ago. I am, however, entirely new to North Carolina. New York and North Carolina may be in the same nation, but they are widely disparate in culture and customs.
I have no expectations from this website, but I feel there is nothing to lose by joining.

For a few years, we lived on James Island in SC and my husband had an after-retirement part time job that gave him the opportunity to travel all over NC. IMO, The Carolinas are the best of America, and Chapel Hill is among the top of both states.
Our daughter lived in NYC for 3 years while in law school so I was familiar with it also.
Welcome to the site even if we can't offer you much at the moment. Who knows, one day you may end up working in another country and find other forums on this site a good source of information. In the meantime, you probably could help someone with your knowledge of NYC.

I know nothing about South Carolina and very little about North Carolina. I have seen almost none of the state outside of Chapel Hill, and very little of Chapel Hill outside of Franklin Street. New York is another matter. I have Zabar's phone number memorized.
Hi and welcome.
I’m a nurse and moved to US from UK. Are you working as a nurse in UK? Thanks.
