CNAS Insurance - how does it work?

Robin & Sue

Hi. I've obtained CNAS Insurance for Robin due to a series of unfortunate illnesses culminating in a week in the TB hospital, all paid for in cash. We now have endless prescriptions, some of which are for ridiculously expensive inhalers - 135.00 lei each. The chemist says we can get the money back. The CNAS website is useless. Can we get money back for prescriptions, if so how & since we've paid his insurance at ANAF (the doctor took the receipt etc to CNAS for me),how on earth do I renew the insurance? It's been 3 months & we haven't received the card or scratty bit of paper through the post yet to say he's insured.

You have to have a contract with ANAF (Romanian HMRC) throughout you pay for CNSAS (Romanian NHS) medical insurance. Once you are insured, you go your medic de familie (GP) from witch you get a discounted (up to 100%) medical prescription. It is unlikely to get the money back once you bought it in advance.

To make sure he is insured or not call CNAS or mail them asking that.
Sometimes this website might work: http://www.cnas.ro/page/verificare-asigurat.html
