How to ship belongings from US to Italy

Post new topic

Hello-
We are moving to Florence in August & would like to ship (1) box/crate (perhaps 4x4x4) with our bikes, some clothing, shoes, jackets, etc-- items beyond what will fit in our 2 checked bags that we'll bring onto our flight. How do we do this? We are finding hurdle after hurdle & what looks like fly-by-night companies wanting to charge us an incredible amount of money to do this. We're not looking to ship furniture or large items. Also, we are ok to send over via ship/slow boat if much less expensive & drop-off/pick-up at ports, although sending via plane/picking up at the Florence Airport would be ideal.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts/advice.

We couldn't manage it from Turkey to Italy where countries are closed by and connected by highways. The amount was huge then we have delivered most of our stuff including bikes to friends, family etc with tears, only kept some clothes, photo albums, and etc.

Forget bikes, try to bring best of clothes, shoes with you and just say goodbye to other stuff. Sorry.

Hi, I shipped 9 boxes of books, one bureau and a chair from California to the UK and it was over $2,000 when all the taxes and import duties were added on. I would recommend selling everything except really personal belongings and buying it all again when you arrive.
