Graygirl

Hello all,
My husband and I are planning to spend a year in Scotland, most likely in 2020. We're looking for some suggestions for where to settle.  We're both retired and in our early 60s.
So far, we've been looking into Glasgow or Perth, but I that's only a start.
So, any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Carole

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

The UK no longer offers retirement visas to anybody; as US citizens, the longest you can stay anywhere in the UK is on a tourist visa for up to 6 months, after which you would have to leave.

Scotland would be a great place to base yourself, but you should also perhaps consider that if you were looking to explore the whole of the UK, then somewhere around Manchester or Leeds is more central and nearer to the major transport hubs in the south of the country.

Hope this helps.
