Employment Pass - Stage II question

Post new topic

Darn25

Hi there!

I recently got a job offer from a local company in Malaysia and they've agreed to process my employment pass. I was notified a few days ago that Stage I has been approved which was great news! I was wondering if it's okay to enter Malaysia on a Tourist Visa while waiting for Stage II and the Approval Letter to be done?

I was hoping I could exit and re-enter with the Approval Letter once it's done. Thank you for your answers!

Check if you require a Visa with Reference (VDR).

Usually it is not possible to convert a tourist visa to an EP and you would have to exit Malaysia again and get the VDR issued by Malaysian High Commission in Colombo (Nationals that can get a Visa on Arrival is different rule)

The VDR is usually pre-arranged and details are in the Visa Approval Letter (VAL) which is used to get the VDR. This is all done at Stage 1

Stage 1 approval is taking about a month at the moment.

Stage 2 would then be completed after arrival on a VDR

You can always check with Malaysian HC

Hi Gravitas! Thank you for your prompt reply. Ah okay, I was mistaken on what Stage I & II actually meant in that case. And to clarify, I do indeed need a VDR.

Referring to this website, expats.com.my/expats/msc/application-process-msc/ the company informed me that the FKW Projection has been approved, so I was just wondering if I could be in Malaysia while the "Approval" stage was being carried out. I was hoping to stay until it was completed then exit and re-enter with the VDR.

Thanks again!

The FKW projection (staffing plan) is done before the company then makes the EP application and is not part of Stage 1.

If there is an entry stamp into Malaysia when the copy of your passport is submitted the application will be stopped and you will be asked to exit and supply a copy of the exit stamp.

It's a grey area whether you can be in Malaysia after the Stage 1 application has begun. Worst case scenario is Stage 2 can't be completed and whole recruitment process must be restarted.

Your HR should advise you.

Any conversion of existing passes below requires the FKW to exit Malaysia and collect Reference Visa (VDR) prior to Stage 2 Endorsement.

Regarding to above request, i wonder should i go out from Working country after HR apply in the system or before ? As this affect on the passport copies i send later.
Whats the flow of application actually?
Currently i own a student pass in Malaysia (my working country soon).

Gravitas

Need to be outside Malaysia before HR makes application so passport is showing an Exit Stamp.

Passport copies are needed when application is made.

Also you need your Student Pass shortening so you exit before the new final valid date.
